New Layouts

Finally...my day off!

Hello everyone...

This is supposed to be my night off, so I'll make it as brief as possible tonight. I'll begin by showing you a few of the fabulous layouts that I received yesterday. You girls are certainly coming up with some great ideas for layouts. What a treat it is to see all of them!

The first was sent in by scangel. You'll remember that she promised, in a comment a few days ago, that she would send in the layout that she finally had a chance to make. Well, here it is...and it's worth waiting for. She hasn't made an ordinary 12 x 12 layout...but a beautiful Birthday Card for her great great niece, Bailey, who will be turning 3 years old on Monday.

wrote: "I couldn't find the right thing til this kit. I knew the moment I downloaded the tags that this was it."

scangel has adapted the kit to suit her purpose by making her own top border by using the striped paper and the flowered border that came with the kit. She's topped it off with some eyelet lace. The journaling box and the heart came from a PSP shape.

It's a beautiful card, scangel. Thank you for sharing it with us. Now that you've sent the first layout in, the rest follow easily...don't they, girls?

***

The next layout was sent in by Lee in Fl. She's used Suhrfer's Burnished Love kit and some of the Canvas Collection Add-ons to scraps some pictures she took at Buckskin Joe, Colorado. The journaling in the layout reads: "In this quaint western town, where many movies were made, one can ride on a buckboard or watch a gunfight in the street!"

Lee in Fl. has used the Border and the Paper from Suhrfer's Burnished Love kit to come up with her own background. She's taken the other elements from the CC Add-on package that she received the other day as a bonus for submitting her layout for the Canvas Challenge. Thank you, Lee, for sharing this layout with us.

***

This layout was sent in by Lynn. Lynn has made use of 3s_enough's beautiful Signs of Spring Brag Book Page #9 to scrap this "action" shot!

Lynn wrote: "Last year we went to Wisconsin and toured their Botanical Gardens. I had such a fun time watching this little Robin take a bath. Robins always say.. "Spring is here!" I am so ready!!!!"

The journaling on Lynn's layout reads: "Springtime. Spring is Nature's way of saying, "Let's Party"....a quote by Robin Williams.

Thanks for sharing this fabulous layout with us, Lynn.

Alice has sent in the next layout. She's used the Taffeta Moments Kit to scrap a picture of her Mom & Dad on their wedding day, May 2, 1942. Alice wrote: "They were married 53 years before my father passed away."

Alice has chosen the black pinstriped background paper for her layout. To set off the square frame, she's cut a mat from the silvery paper to avoid the black on black. The 2 diagonal ribbons and bows attach the frame to the background and help draw your eye to the picture. Alice has dated her layout, which is a very good idea when it comes to heritage layouts, and she's added a couple of heart embellishments, signifying love. Thank you, Alice, for sharing this lovely layout with us.

***
This next layout is also from Lee in Fl. She's been hard at work, producing some fine layouts. She's used Christine's Abstract Kit to make this one. Lee wrote: "I wanted to show how nice the Abstract kit looks on light paper so I've recolored this dark green background paper, a light blue. The elements at the bottom reminded me of waves in the water. I chose this photo because the look on my sister's face is priceless, (LOL) and because the Flume is a water ride. That explains why the riders are all wearing plastic garbage bags over their clothing! Rachel later said she was having fun. Ward said he was too scared to scream, but there is no doubt what Melvina was feeling! Although she did say it was great fun! "

Well, Lee...you've certainly produced a fine layout here. Your sense of proportion and balance are exceptional. The journaling is perfect and I love how you've set it off with the embellishments. The "ribbons" do resemble waves and are the perfect choice for this layout. Thank you, so much, for sharing this layout with us, Lee.

This next layout was sent in by Carol from CA aka cacrafty1. Not sure what she wants to be called here. :) She's just new to the blog and has submitted this lovely layout of her wedding picture for the Taffeta Moments Challenge.

Carol has done a few interesting things in this layout. First, she's used the black ribbon for her border. If you look, very carefully, you will see that she's stretched it out to accomplish that. The background is the white ribbon stretched to fit the entire page. That's a great idea. I love the texture of it. Carol has used the silvery paper as a mat under her frame and added a stacked bow on the corner of the frame for an embellishment. She's completed her layout with the date of her wedding. Thank you, Carol, for sending in your lovely layout. I'm glad you found my blog and are enjoying the freebies.

I have another layout that Lee in Fl sent me tonight. I just have to share it with you and Mags. Lee has scrapped some pictures of horses that match Mags cows! Lee wrote: "I like Mag's QP as it is very versatile for multiple photos! I used the green banner element for the center background. I enlarged it and colored it to match the border. That gave me a solid background on which to do my journaling!"

The journaling reads: "Ocala, Fl has 56 official, life-size horses that have been painted by various artists. Some, like those shown here, are in the Town Center. Others are scattered throughout the county on private farms or in front of public buildings."

I had a busy few days trying to get ahead of the game and I finally got my next kit ready to give out. It was a struggle, but I did it! I spent all morning making the preview (as many of you know I find that the most difficult part) and it turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself! The big problem was that, after I had it all made, my Photoshop program froze up and I had to shut down the computer. What was that expression....SAVE, SAVE, SAVE....or something like that. You'd think I'd have learned by now. Anyway...the second one was much easier to make because I still had things fresh in my mind...lol. It was a total waste of the morning, however...so my day off was not quite the day off I had planned!

I had a request to make a kit that would be suitable for someone who enjoys fishing. I had a terrible time with it and I just couldn't get it together. Oh sure, some of the pieces were easy to make, but as a kit...it just didn't happen. Then, I started to play around and have some fun. The next thing you know, the kit was done.

I've put many of the pieces into the preview, but there are many that are not shown. You'll have to download the kit to find out what else is there.

Here's the preview of my Gone Fishing Kit. I hope some of you can find a use for it.

If you can make use of this Gone Fishing Kit, you're welcome to it! I've had to break it into two parts because of the size of the files. There are a couple of mats that have high MB count.

Click here to download Gone Fishing Part 2

Please don't hotlink to this file. If you'd like to share it with your friends, please send them here, to my blog. Thank you.

Prayer Chain

It's the time of night we turn our focus to some of our friends of the blog who are in need of our intercessory prayer? Showing that we care enough to include them in our daily meditations is a great comfort to them. Can't you spare just a minute or two for your friends?

"Lord, thank you for your great love and mercy and for the assurance that you are with us. Help us to trust in you, believing that your grace will sustain us no matter what life brings. Thank you, Lord, for listening to all our concerns. Amen""

"Dear God, I ask you to take Bill, Mandy, Donnie, shelbz's husband, and Jacob into Your keeping. Defend them with Your grace, strengthen them in their trials. Give them courage to face any peril they may face. Grant them a sense of Your abiding presence wherever they go. Give them an overwhelming awareness of Your love. Amen."

Well, I'm off to spend my day having fun. Thanks for visiting my blog tonight. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I sure am. :)

Before I go, I'll leave you with another runner up in the "Husband of the Year" contest.

He probably had a hard day at the office...What do you think?

To SCANGEL...your layout is so cute! You did a great job! I sat for 45 min. tonight and just stared at the computer, watching all 4 slide shows! I'm new to digi scrapping and I am still learning to use the PSP. I couldn't believe how many pages I had on the slide show already, and 3 more on the blog tonight. I'm blessed indeed! I bet you'll soon be saying the same thing! I'm happy in FL! LEE

Oh boy, we have another winnner here, Marlene. I can see the creative juices flowing in everyone as they think of a fishing layout! Love the colours in the plaid paper and accesories and the fishing hat border is so neat.

The layouts are fabulous as usual. Really like scangel's idea for a birthday card.

Been busy looking after my grandson the past couple of days. Also took the time to download all those butterfly files that I missed last year. Slowly I am working my way up the list to where I started visiting the site.

After looking at all the photos of the worst husbands I guess I am not so bad off. LOL

Marlene, I hope you had a good "night off". The fishing kit is cute! I can't wait to see the rest of the pieces. I like the scalloped mat.

Scangel, I love the card! You inspired me to make my daughter's birthday party invitations.

What a great idea to use the border for a background, Lee! I have to add this to my file of things to try.

Lynn, what a fantastic shot! The quote is perfect!

Alice, your layout draws attention to your picture beautifully. Very romantic.

Carol, what a beautiful layout! I like what you've done with the ribbons.
