New Layouts

4 shared didn't like me tonight!

Before I start, I want to apologize for the late post tonight. I should have uploaded early in the evening when it isn't so busy on 4 shared. I had to upload my files 3 times. Twice they uploaded and 4 shared had signed me out so they weren't there...after making me wait for 1/2 hour to upload. The third time, they actually uploaded. It was very frustrating and a horrible ending to an otherwise pretty good day. Again, I apologize if I caused you to have to visit more than once. I'll learn my lesson from this.

***

I can't believe that I actually got up off my chair, ventured away from my computer and did some housework this morning. I think I was in a bit of a race with JudyR. She was in the laundry and housecleaning mood, too, and we were sort of neck in neck for a while. I think she was the winner, though, because she was rewarded with an afternoon nap. I, on the other hand, was sentenced to a few hours of blog preparation...lol. I didn't get much playing time, today, but I did accomplish a few things that I wanted to get done.

I just got a call from my hubby (5:02) who told me that he was going to the new bank open house, which he told me was tomorrow. If he didn't want to go with me, all he had to do was say...lol. Actually, he thought it was tomorrow but that was the date for their opening in the next city. I told him to go and enjoy himself and that gave me a few more minutes to type before I have to go and make his dinner.

I have a few things to share with you again today, but I'm not sure how many layouts I'll actually get to show you. Once again, I'm going to add the freebies first and then go back and add the "fluff". It takes much longer to do the blog when I add layouts, so I hope you'll understand if you have to wait a few more days to see yours. That doesn't mean I don't want them. I definitely do! I love to see what you come up with. I also love it when you share a quickpage. Please feel free to do either, whenever you get the urge.

I convinced JudyR and Scrapcat to share their pages for you, so tonight, I'm going to share Judy's layout and tomorrow, you'll get Scrapcat's.

Judy had used the Mother Kit to scrap a picture of her Mother. I wanted to show you this layout last night, but I thought I'd wait and see if Judy would be able to send a quickpage to give out.

She has changed the color on the kit to match the picture of her mother, which has a blue background. She's cut the frame so that she has an outline of the frame to use around the striped papers, which she's cut for a picture mat. Judy's cut a couple of flowers to embellish the top corner of the frame and used the spray of flowers on the bottom, with the addition of a butterfly. The simple word art, Mother, completes her layout. Thank you, Judy. I love your page.

I've prepared a quickpage to share with you from Judy's layout. Judy has used a photo effect on her mother's photo. Not knowing if you would be able to do the same treatment, I have added an inner mat to her page.

The next layout I have to share with you was sent in by Bet. She's used the My Heart Kit to scrap a picture of her Mom, being nuzzled by a big fluffy cat!

Bet has altered this kit, somewhat, because her picture was of her mom. She's recolored the heart shaped mats, for variety. I love how she's layered them and stacked them on the square, striped mat. She's tucked that paper clip element under the mats and left the hearts exposed to use for her journaling. Bet's filled in the hearts on the oval frame with colors to match her mats and journaled on them, too. Great idea, Bet. The Heart Button, threaded with a ribbon completes her layout. Gorgeous layout, Bet. Thank you for sharing it with us. I love the colors you've chosen.

Bet has turned her layout into a quickpage to share with you.

I have another of the layouts that Christine made of her niece, Charlotte's, Profession de foi (Confirmation), to share with you. This layout shows 3 pictures that she took after the event. Christine said that, luckily, the rain held off while the pictures were taken.

Christine
has made another of her Stained Glass pages. This time, she's allowed space for three photos. Of course, since the theme of her page is religious, in nature, she's used the symbols on her page. Again, Christine has drawn all these lines, manually, making sure they line up and are pleasing to the eye. Very well done, Christine.

Christine has made a quickpage to share with you from this layout. Again, she's sent both a plain version, without the symbols, and one as you see in her layout. You can choose which one you want, or take both! You may be able to add some other embellishments, like flowers, to give the page an entirely different look.

Here's the page without the religious symbols. I know that this is only the second of Christine's Stained Glass pages, but I had all her previews numbered long before she sent her layouts. You will get #2 when Christine has the layout ready. There will be 6 Stained Glass Quickpages, in all. I just can't guarantee they will be in order.

So, tonight, you will get Stained Glass Quickpage #3.

If you'd like Christine's Stained Glass Quickpage #3, click here to download. Please don't hotlink to this file. If you'd like to share it with your friends, please send them here, to my blog. Thank you.

Here's her page with the religious symbols as they are in Christine's layout.

If you'd like Christine's Stained Glass Quickpage #3-b, click here to download. Please don't hotlink to this file. If you'd like to share it with your friends, please send them here, to my blog. Thank you.

My English lesson last night proved to be interesting, to some, and it generated this response from Christine. I thought you might like to read what she wrote.

"I loved your closing piece on today's blog. As a teacher of English here in France, that sort of thing drives my students up (lol) the wall. Depending on the student, I sometimes get them to read and try to understand this rhyme" :

When the English tongue we speak
Why is break not rhymed with weak?
Won't you tell me why it's true
We say sew, but also few?
And the maker of a verse
Cannot rhyme his horse with worse?
Beard is not the same as heard,
Cord is different from word,
Cow is cow, but low is low,
Shoe is never rhymed with foe.
Think of hose and dose and lose,
And think of goose and yet of choose,
Think of comb and tomb and bomb,
Doll and roll and home and some.
And since pay is rhymed with say,
Why not paid with said I pray?
Think of blood and food and good;
Mould is not pronounced like could;
Why is it done, but gone and lone-
Is there any reason known?
To sum it up, it seems to me
That sounds and letters don't agree.

Thank you, Christine. I remember trying to teach English to my cousin from Finland. He was having a terrible time with some of the common words you have included in the poem above. It's a very difficult thing to try to explain that the same word can mean different things, too. We don't think about it because they form a part of our every day vocabulary. I remember when I first started talking with Julia. I told her, one day, that she'd get "used to it". Then, she asked me what "used to" means. Try to explain that one. The good thing was, that within a couple of months, she was "used to" many things.

I received the quickpages from Cra-Z-cat, that I told you she'd promised. They were made with Lee's Textured Papers. Cra-Z-cat has used that cute Kitty on the corner of the frame that came from Crafty Scraps. She's given Cra-Z-cat permission to give it out on her quickpage.

If you'd like to have Cra-Z-cat's Textures Quickpage #1, click here to download. Please don't hotlink to this file. If you'd like to share it with your friends, please send them here, to my blog. Thank you.

Cra-Z-cat knows that while many people love cats, there are just as many of you out there who would not have a use for this quickpage in this state. So, she's made one for you to use, too. She's removed the cat and replaced it with another of the discs.

If you'd like the non-catlover's version, Cra-Z-cat's Textures QP#1-b, click here to download. Please don't hotlink to this file. If you'd like to share it with your friends, please send them here, to my blog. Thank you.

Tonight, as promised, I have the second in the series of new kits I made. This one is called Sister. It's basically the same as the Mother Kit. It has 3 papers, 2 frames, 3 butterflies, 2 beads, 1 plant, 1 cloisonne disc, 1 bow, and the word Sister in gold.

If you'd like to have my Sister Kit, click here to download. Please don't hotlink to this file. If you'd like to share it with your friends, please send them here, to my blog. Thank you.

Prayer Chain

It's time to remember some of our friends who are in need of our intercessory prayer. It's a great comfort to them to know that we care enough to include them in our prayers.

I have received a request from milliejs who would like me to add adult children who are addicted to drugs to our prayer list. I have included a new section of the prayers for them.

I have been sent another prayer request. It comes from LindaS. She left a comment in which she wrote: "
Could you please pray for my 19 year old son that is incarcerated for a mistake he made and that he gets out on parole? He is now studying Bible and trying to make himself better. We all have made mistakes and God has forgiven us if we asked."

Almighty God, you have promised to hear the petitions of those who ask in your Son's Name. We ask you, mercifully, to hear us as we make our prayers and supplications to you. Grant that those things which we faithfully ask, according to your will, may effectually be obtained. Give us grateful hearts, O Father, and make us mindful of the needs of others. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We ask your blessing and healing for our friends we name: Mrs. C and family, Larry, Brendan, James, Juliet, Misty Lady, Florence, Ken, Logan, Lynn, Rachel, Mags, Kim, Anne, shelbz, Kathy, Destiny, silverghost, Catt, Jamie, David, Ryan, Spencer, Claudia, Sandie, and Jane. Fill them with your peace that surpasses all understanding, and guard their hearts and minds with Your settling presence.

We ask you also, Heavenly Father to watch over those in the military who are serving their countries. We especially ask you to take Joe S., Devon, Bill, Mandy, shelbz's husband, and Jacob into Your keeping. Defend them with Your grace, strengthen them in their trials. Give them courage to face any peril they may face. Grant them a sense of Your abiding presence wherever they go. Give them an overwhelming awareness of Your love. Be with their families, especially Geralyn, Lizzie, and others, and give them strength to cope with all that they have to endure.

We know your power and we know your might. We ask that you deliver all who are battling drug addiction from their bondage. Give them peace and patience as they work through their issues. Set them free, Lord, so that they may resume their normal lives. Lead them not into temptation but deliver them from evil.
Help their families to forgive them even though they have been badly hurt.

Lord, please Bless LindaS's son who is incarcerated. Let Your Perfect Justice cut through and aid him now. Grant him Mercy so that he may be released at the earliest possible moment and go home to his family.

Defend us, deliver us, and in your compassion protect us, O Lord, by your grace. Amen.

LindaS's son - currently incarcerated and hoping for parole.

"I waited patiently upon the Lord: he stooped to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the desolate pit, out of the mire and clay; he set my feet upon a high cliff and made my footing sure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; many shall see, and stand in awe, and put their trust in the Lord." (Psalm 40: 1-3)

Message Center

Bet- I hope you are okay. I've missed your letters the past few days. Is it your email that is acting up again? Please let me know if anything is wrong. I miss you.

Christine - I know you had a busy weekend with Charlotte's confirmation. I'm anxious to see all the pictures when you get them scrapped in your beautiful Stained Glass pages. You are now beginning your week of bachelorettehood (how's that for a word) without your hubby. Is it going to be a Photoshop week? I wonder what wonderful goodies you'll come up with to share with everyone. Sorry I missed you today. I must have been vacuuming or doing the laundry when you called. Let's try again, tomorrow, shall we?

Heather - Your vacation has come to an end. School will be finished before you know it. At least you'll still be able to visit on the weekends. Be sure to leave a comment when you do visit to let us know you've been here. You've added a few more of those confusing words. I know there are many more!

Scrapcat - Sorry you didn't get my first email. Oh well. Better for everyone. They'll get your gorgeous Mother page tomorrow. I'm glad we worked out how to get them to me so that I can share them. What you did was just perfect. I can open the pdf file and increase the size with no difficulty and no loss of resolution. It must have been Monday...everyone is doing their laundry! I hope you got all of yours done, this time!

JudyR - Another gal with clean clothes! It was fun to race through the housework with you today. It gave me purpose...lol. Glad you enjoyed the 23rd Psalm. Hope you had a great nap this afternoon and that you dreamt (sheesh is that Canadian? My spell checker doesn't like it!) about me. I was hard at work...lol. But...I did manage to get a few more things done.

Molly - Thanks for stopping to leave a comment. And, for your kind words. :)

Cra-Z-cat - I guess your head is spinning. You have another way of spelling everything and I, for one, have to really work hard at what you are saying...lol. Try to teach that to someone who doesn't speak English...lol. I remember when Julia would ask me what you were trying to say...Poor girl. She didn't know if you were complimenting her or not! I only eat Big Macs at McD's. I LOVE the sauce. In Canada, there are Double Big Macs. They are my favorites. There are 4 patties in them and lots of sloppy sauce! My mouth is watering but....no...I'm going to control myself. I don't need any more CALORIES!!!!! I hope you get back to your routine of scrapping soon. I'm anxiously awaiting your new pages.

Beth - Nice to hear from you. I'm glad you are on break and have a chance to visit and comment. You would relate to that English lesson from last night. We never really think about all the peculiar words until someone asks...what does that mean? or Why? I love metal elements, also. I think they are particularly nice with nice, rich, warm colors. I'm anxious to see what you have up your scrapping sleeve, also. Don't keep me waiting too long!

LindaS - Welcome to the blog. Addicted to scrapping is a very common thing. You aren't alone. I'm sorry to hear about your son. I've added him to our prayer list. I wish your family all the best. I hope everything works out well for you and your son.

Anne - I want to see some of your party pictures, now that I've given you a page. Do you have parties? I gave up on birthday parties years ago. I hate to think of the years ticking by. I do my best to forget about them. I just know I'm old and getting older. Every joint in my body tells me so on a daily basis! Not to mention the mirror...lol. I'm sorry I didn't get to drink my coffee with you today. I'll try again tomorrow.

Lee - I'm sorry I missed the chili dinner. I just didn't have enough time to get there. It sure sounded good, though. How about next time? Just give me a bit more notice. Of course, I love spaghetti, too, so would that be Wednesday?

Milliejs - You're welcome for the instructions. I hope you send me a layout to share on the blog. I have added the prayer you requested.

Courtney - Thank you for sharing that information with me. It's nice to hear that you still love me. I'm glad you showed some restraint at Perkins. It's not like you...lol. I hope you go to Grandma's and Grandpa's on Wednesday. They like it when you visit. She might even cook supper for you. Thanks for dropping by the blog. I saw that you phoned me and I only missed you by minutes. I looked but you were gone. I'm glad you're okay. Did you get the truck fixed?
xoxoxo to you. Love you, honey.

Lee sent me some very cute pictures today and I think I'll share a few of them with you over the next few days. They are pictures of dogs...all dressed up in costumes. Some of them are very cute.

So...for all you dog lovers out there....Here's the first of several. I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for visiting the blog today. I've enjoyed your company. Come back tomorrow and see what I have for you. I'm sure there'll be something you can use.

Hugs

Well - I just went back to yesterday's post to read the other comments and a big thank you to your daughter Courtney! I will now be thinking twice before ordering "un Big Mac" - there is absolutely no way I could walk 16 miles in the 30/40 minutes I try to do each day!!!

It's a shame you had to spend so long getting the blog together. Thank you for persisting! When your post appears on the blog, I am tucked up in bed, fast asleep so it didn't concern me but I think it's kind of you to have posted a "warning" for all those who are waiting.

It's nice to see Mothers being featured in the layouts, especially as it's very likely we all have just ONE photo of our mothers because they never seem to like having their photo taken!!!

The Sister kit is a beauty (as usual!). I have a sister who will do justice to this one!!!

You're right, Marlene, about my bacherlorettehood week (much nicer than spinsterhood!). Yesterday was my daughter's birthday so I was bit tied up but today.....is looking good for the moment!

Have a good day everyone
